There’s nothing unusual about the second last day of Spring, except this is Melbourne, supposedly the most livable city in the world.

How accurate that title is remains debatable, but there’s no doubting Melbourne is a great metropolis that never ceases to surprise with all the festivals and free events held throughout the year. Every day is amazing.

On this Saturday, for instance, apart from the dazzling weather, the city was abuzz with people out doing Christmas shopping and attending parties; then it was election day – so why  not celebrate at Fed Sq? In Birrarung Marr, meanwhile, there was a noodle festival – though, such were the numbers attending it should be renamed the queue festival.

Then throw in art exhibitions, buskers and a bit of social conscience and you’re starting to get the picture – and we haven’t even left the CBD yet.
